Oral Appliance Therapy
Pioneered by dentists, oral appliances are mouth-guard-like devices worn during sleep to maintain an open, unobstructed airway. They are comfortable, portable, and backed by research — and for many patients they replace CPAP entirely.

- Travel often and need a portable option?
- Already diagnosed with OSA by a sleep physician?

The New York Times Wirecutter
“If a patient just goes to the dentist and gets a mouth guard without receiving any additional information about how to improve or control the bruxism, it's like buying a helmet to wear because you've been banging your head against the wall for years, without finding out why you're still banging your head.”

Frequently asked questions
Will my insurance cover treatment?+
Coverage varies between plans. We are contracted with most medical insurance providers including Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, and the VA, and we verify your benefits before treatment so you know what to expect.
Will I need surgery?+
We focus on non-surgical solutions first. Surgery is only considered as a last resort when all other avenues — including oral appliance therapy — have been explored.
What if I can't tolerate a CPAP machine?+
If CPAP isn't working for you, custom oral appliances are a comfortable, portable, research-backed alternative that keeps your airway open while you sleep.
Are TMJ and ear pain related?+
Yes — the TMJ sits next to the auditory canal, so inflammation in the joint commonly causes ear pain, ringing, or fullness alongside jaw symptoms.
Are TMJ, headaches and sleep disorders connected?+
Research shows around 85% of TMJ patients have related painful disorders. Untreated obstructive sleep apnea is also a known driver of morning headaches and TMJ-type pain.
How long does treatment take?+
After your consultation and fitting, your custom appliance is typically ready in 2–4 weeks, followed by check-ups to ensure it is comfortable and effective.
Will I have to take medication?+
Most of our treatments do not require medication. In some cases short-term medication may be prescribed to help manage TMJ pain while we work on the underlying cause.
Is snoring always a sign of sleep apnea?+
Not always — but loud, persistent snoring is one of the most common signs of obstructive sleep apnea and warrants evaluation, especially when paired with daytime fatigue.
